OREANDA-NEWS  Security forces prevented a terrorist attack in Yessentuki, where a native of the Central Asian region planned to set off an explosion at a bus station, the terrorist was detained, the Central Security Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation reported.

It is noted that security forces in the Stavropol Territory stopped the terrorist attack, which was planned by a member of the international terrorist organization (ITO) banned in Russia, a native of one of the Central Asian countries. "The terrorist swore allegiance to the leader of the MTO and was preparing an attack on the transport infrastructure of the city of Yessentuki using an improvised explosive device. To this end, he conducted a reconnaissance of the city's bus station, studied the time of mass gathering of people and selected the place where the IED was laid, purchased the components, chemicals and damaging elements necessary for its manufacture, which he placed in a pre-equipped cache in a removable garage," the message says.

It is emphasized that after the terrorist attack, he planned to travel to Syria and join the ranks of terrorists.

"As a result of the measures taken, the specified person was identified and detained in a timely manner. IED components were removed from the cache prepared by him, terrorist propaganda materials were found at the criminal's place of residence," the message adds.
