OREANDA-NEWS In November of this year, the Russian Central Bank (CB) initiated the blocking of over 110 thousand phone numbers of fraudsters. As specified by RIA Novosti in the press service of the regulator, this number has become a record since 2019.
In total, according to the calculations of the Central Bank, about 500 thousand numbers were blocked in three quarters — almost three times more than in the same period a year earlier. At the same time, fraudsters still managed to steal more than 10 billion rubles from bank customers in the first nine months of this year.
As Vadim Uvarov, director of the Information Security Department of the Bank of Russia, told earlier, cyber fraudsters began stealing an average of 14.5 thousand rubles from Russian bank customers — over the past three years, the figure has increased by 30 percent. According to the regulator, from January to September of this year, about 700 thousand cases of theft were recorded. Fraudsters stole almost 10 billion rubles from the bank's customers. Uvarov warned that the attackers are trying to deceive citizens using a news agenda, including posing as employees of the Central Bank or the Investigative Committee.
