OREANDA-NEWS A small oil slick was first discovered at the entrance to Sevastopol's Balaklava Bay, and isolated cases of birds in fuel oil have also been recorded, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said on his Telegram channel.

"A small oil slick reached Sevastopol today... He was found at the entrance to Balaklava Bay. There have also been isolated cases of birds found in fuel oil in the area of Uchkuyevka, Laspi and Omega Bay," Razvozhaev wrote.

According to him, the Black Sea-Azov Maritime Administration of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources and Sevprirodnadzor are monitoring the situation.

"Our rescuers, together with Sevprirodnadzor, will now collect the oil slick," Razvozhaev stressed.
According to him, a bird reception center has been set up in the city. "I would like to emphasize that so far only a few birds have been found, if the situation worsens, we will deploy additional bird reception points and involve volunteers," Razvozhaev added.
On December 15, tankers Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft 239 crashed in the Kerch Strait area, 27 sailors were evacuated, one of them died. According to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, about 2.4 thousand tons of petroleum products got into the sea.

A federal emergency regime was introduced in Kuban. Rescuers and volunteers collect polluted soil on the shore, specialists remove the oil-water mixture from the water area and treat it with a sorbent. There are five centers in the region for the rescue of birds affected by fuel oil.
