President of Ukraine met with the President of the European Parliament
OREANDA-NEWS. After the ceremony of signing the decision on the EU visa waiver for Ukrainians, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani.
The Head of State noted that the European Parliament has always been one of the most ambitious supporters of European aspirations of the people of Ukraine. That is why today’s signature of the EU’s decision to provide the visa-free regime for Ukrainians is a common achievement.
The parties expect the next decision to be the entry into force of the Association Agreement.
Petro Poroshenko is confident that Ukraine will have support of the European Parliament in the future, particularly on the future more ambitious European agenda of our state.
The Head of State drew attention to the lasting brutal violation of the Minsk agreements by the Kremlin, the evidence of which is another aggravation of security and humanitarian situation in Donbas.
He underlined the importance of support by the European Parliament for the continuation of the policy of sanctions against Russia until full restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including Crimea.
The President strongly condemned illegal visits to the occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas by certain members of the European Parliament and urged the President of the European Parliament to deliver an adequate response and prevent such visits in the future.
Petro Poroshenko reiterated invitation to Antonio Tajani to visit Ukraine.
