Moldova’s economy increases by 4.5 per cent in 2017
OREANDA-NEWS. The economy of Moldova recorded an increase of 4.5 per cent compared to 2016 in 2017, value of gross domestic product (GDP) exceeding MDL 150 billion, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS).
The growth of GDP contributed to various economic activities, with largest share being recorded by wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, transport and storage, accommodation and catering – with a contribution of 1.3 points percentage of GDP growth. The economic advance was also driven by positive developments within agricultural, industrial, IT and communications sectors, as well as construction.
According to the report, the biggest economic growth was recorded in last quarter of 2017, when GDP amounted MDL 41 billion, up 6.4 per cent compared to similar period of 2016.
The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) forecasts an increase in economy by 03 – 04 per cent for 2018 – 2020.
