Twelve Russian tennis players have reached the second round of the US Open
Two more men will play together with Andrey Rublev in the 2nd round. Roman Safiullin defeated American Matthew Forbes in three sets — 6:4, 7:6 (7:2), 6:2. Daniil Medvedev did not have any serious problems either — 6:3, 3:6, 6:3, 6:1 in a duel with Serbian Dusan Lajovic.
Karen Khachanov's defeat by Briton Daniel Evans was insulting: our tennis player led 4-0 and 40:15 in the fifth game, but managed to lose 6 games in a row — 7:6 (8:6), 6:7 (2:7), 6:7 (4:7), 6:4-4:6. This match was the longest in the history of the US Open: it lasted 5 hours and 36 minutes.
Yesterday, following Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Mirra Andreeva, four more of our tennis players won their first victories in the women's singles: Anastasia Potapova, Anna Kalinskaya, Diana Schneider and Lyudmila Samsonova.
