OREANDA-NEWS. 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo may be held without spectators due to the situation with the coronavirus. It is reported by the British news publication. According to the publication, an option is being considered in which the Olympics will be shown only on television. Such a solution will satisfy multimillion-dollar television contracts and is seen as an alternative to canceling an event or rescheduling.

Earlier, the deputy general director of the organizing committee of the Games, Katsura Enyo, said that no changes would be made to the Olympics due to the coronavirus. The Olympic Games will be held from July 24 to August 9.

To date, 961 cases of new coronavirus infection have been reported in Japan. 12 people have died. The bulk of those infected (705) are passengers and crew of the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which the last group of crew members left on Sunday. The authorities of Japan in this regard announced that the evacuation of people from the ship was completely completed.

The outbreak caused by the new coronavirus disease was recorded at the end of December 2019 in the most populous city of Central China - the 12 millionth Wuhan. The World Health Organization recognized it as an emergency of international proportions, describing it as an epidemic with many foci.
