OREANDA-NEWS. 47-year-old Thomas Tuchel will be appointed as the new head coach of «Chelsea». Earlier it became known, that the London football club will soon dismiss Frank Lampard. Tuchel, who left «Paris Saint-Germain» at the end of December last year, was interested in the invitation of Roman Abramovich, the owner of «Chelsea».

The day before, «Chelsea» beat «Luton» in the 4th round of the FA Cup and reached the 1/8 final. In the Premier League, the Londoners have won only one victory in their last five matches and after 19 rounds they are 9th in the standings with 29 points.

Tuchel worked at «Paris Saint-Germain» for two and a half years. Under his leadership, the team won the French championship twice, once-the national Cup and the League Cup. Last season, the Parisians reached the final of the Champions League, where they lost to Bayern Munich (0:1). The coach left his position due to the club's poor results.

Tuchel started his career as a coach in 2000 as the head coach of the Stuttgart youth team (under-19). After five years in charge of this club, he returns to Augsburg, where he worked for three years as a coordinator of work with the youth team.
