The Women's National Football Team Escaped from Afghanistan
OREANDA-NEWS. Representatives of the Afghanistan women's national football team have fled the country. It is not specified whether they will continue to represent the country at international competitions. This was reported to the Daily Sabah by the Minister of Information of Pakistan Fawad Chaudhry.
The official said that the athletes are now on the border of Afghanistan with Pakistan at the Torkham checkpoint. According to him, the women were accepted by the leadership of the country's Football Federation. Who exactly of the football players left their homeland, and for what reasons, is currently not reported.
Before that, several former national team players had already left Afghanistan. They recommended that the remaining athletes delete their profiles in social networks, as well as burn their uniforms and boots to avoid reprisals.
Recall that a week ago, the deputy head of the commission of the «Taliban» (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), Ahmadullah Vasik, said that women would not play sports in Afghanistan. He explained that Islam does not allow leaving the body uncovered, and during sports this can happen accidentally.
Earlier it was reported that the lightweight boxing champion of Afghanistan and a member of the national team, 18-year-old Simu Rezai, left the country after the «Taliban» banned her from training. She received a threatening letter.
