OREANDA-NEWS Two gold, two silver and five bronze medals were won by Russian athletes on the next competitive day of the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.

The winners of the award of the highest dignity were track and field athlete Alexander Kostin in the 1500 m (class T13) and swimmer Daria Lukyanenko in the 200 m complex swimming (SM11).

The silver medalists were athlete Alexey Churkin in the shot put (F32) and swimmer Roman Zhdanov in the 200 m freestyle (S14).

The bronze medals were won by athletes Nikita Kotukov in the long jump (T47), Anton Kulyatin in the 1500 m (T13 class), Victoria Slanova in the 400 m (T37), swimmers Vladimir Mozgovoy in the 100-meter backstroke (S9), Vladimir Sotnikov in the 200-meter complex swimming (SM13).

Now the Russians have a total of 9 gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze medals. With such indicators, the domestic paraathlete team would now take seventh place in the medal standings (eight days earlier). However, Russians, like Belarusians, compete under a neutral flag, and their achievements in the medal standings are not taken into account.

Currently, the seventh place is occupied by the national team of Ukraine (9, 15, 21). China is in first place (53, 40, 22), the top 3 also includes the United Kingdom (30, 18, 13) and the United States (20, 22, 11).

The 2024 Paralympic Games will end on September 8, with 88 Russians competing here.
