OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Paralympic Committee on its official website spoke about its steps in order to challenge the exclusion of Russian athletes from participating in the Beijing Paralympics.
It is reported that the RPC has attempted to conduct a legal examination of the possibility of applying to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in order to obtain a positive decision on the admission of Russians to the competition.
“Unfortunately, this is prevented by Article 2.9 of the Paralympic Games Section of the IPC Rules, according to which the IPC “may, in its sole discretion, at any time refuse to participate in any athlete without giving reasons”, and the lack of an arbitration clause in the IPC Constitution allowing the RPC to contact the CAS to resolve the differences, ”the RPC said in a statement.
On February 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) addressed the sports federations and recommended that they not allow domestic and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions.
Recall that several international sports organizations have already refused to hold competitions in Russia, and some domestic athletes have received a neutral status.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Anton Shipulin reacted on his Instagram to the removal of Russian athletes from participating in the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
