OREANDA-NEWS  The head coach of the Kazakhstan national figure skating team, Asem Khasanova, spoke about the process of joining the team of Russian figure skater Sofia Samodelkina. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

She recalled that last autumn, the Skating Union of Kazakhstan split into two separate federations: speed skating and figure skating. The latter has not yet received accreditation from the Ministry of Justice of the country. After this happens, the new organization will send a request to the Russian Figure Skating Federation with a request to detach Samodelkina.

Last October, the International Skating Union (ISU) allowed Samodelkina to take part in the championship of Kazakhstan. The athlete's desire to change her sports citizenship became known in August of the same year.

Samodelkina is the vice-champion of Russia in women's single skating among juniors. The figure skater also has victories and prizes at the stages of the Russian Cup.
