OREANDA-NEWS. Press Secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov commented on the information about the positive doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
“They started yelling right and left, we will not join the orderly row of screamers, we are guided by the IOC, we wish her and all athletes gold medals,” Peskov said.
On February 9, the Inside the Games portal published information that the dubious doping test of Kamila Valieva caused the postponement of the award of domestic figure skaters for winning the team tournament of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
According to the latest media reports, a decision on Valieva's case has not yet been made. There is still a chance that the Russian woman will be found not guilty of using the banned drug trimetazidine.
Later, the press attaché of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), Olga Yermolina, said that Valieva was not suspended from participating in the Games.
The women's short program will take place on February 15. In addition to Valieva, the Russian team will be represented by Alexandra Trusova and Anna Shcherbakova.
In total, five sets of medals will be played in figure skating.
