Russian Synchronized Swimmers Won Gold at the European Championship
OREANDA-NEWS. Russian synchronized swimmers Svetlana Romashina and Svetlana Kolesnichenko won the technical duet competition at the European Aquatics Championships in Budapest.
Romashina and Kolesnichenko scored 96.2904 points. The Russians performed a technical program to the music of the song "Kalinka" in the adaptation of the Little Big group.
The second place was taken by Ukrainian women Marta Fedina and Anastasia Savchuk (92.6862), the top three Austrians were closed by Anna Maria Alexandri and Eirini Alexandri (89.4592).
The final in the technical program of the women's duets was originally held on Monday. Russian athletes Romashina and Kolesnichenko were leading in this discipline, but the results of those competitions were canceled due to problems with the sound of music under water, as a result, the competition was postponed to Thursday.
Romashina became the 12-time European champion, Kolesnichenko won the gold medal of the tournament for the tenth time. Earlier, both synchronized swimmers won at this European Championship as part of the group with the "Quadrille" technical program.
For the Russian national synchronized swimming team, this is the fourth gold medal in five disciplines at the European Aquatics Championships in Budapest.
