OREANDA-NEWS Goalkeeper of the Russian national team Matvey Safonov has signed a contract with the French football club Paris Saint-Germain. This is reported by the PSG press service.

The agreement is valid until the summer of 2029.

Safonov, 25, joined PSG from Krasnodar, of which he is a pupil. The goalkeeper made his debut in the main squad of the Russian Premier League club in 2017. As a member of Krasnodar, he became a silver and twice a bronze medalist of the Russian championship.

According to media reports, the transfer amount amounted to 18 million euros, in addition, Paris Saint-Germain will pay bonuses depending on how many matches the Russian will play in his squad.

Meanwhile, it is assumed that Safonov will be listed as a reserve goalkeeper for the first time. While the main goalkeeper is the European champion in the Italian national team Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Paris Saint-Germain won the championship and the French Cup last season-2023/24. Safonov is the silver medal of the Russian championship.
