Russian Biathlonists Require a Public Hearing at CAS
OREANDA-NEWS. Russian biathlonists Olga Zaitseva, Yana Romanova and Olga Vilukhina demand a public hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on doping cases on March 2 and 3 with the mandatory presence of Russian and world media.
Athletes who have already completed professional careers were disqualified by the International Olympic Committee for life in November 2017, their results at the Olympic Games in Sochi were canceled. They filed an appeal against this decision more than two years ago. However, the consideration of these cases was delayed.
“Honestly, I’m glad that the hearing date is approaching… We were disqualified in 2017, and in fact, we learned about this from news on the Internet. During this time, we have already begun to get used to lawlessness and arbitrariness in relation to Russian athletes, innocent and pure. Therefore, we demand that the CAS hearings be public and open, with access of all the world media. I am sure neither WADA [World Anti-Doping Agency. – Ed.], nor anyone else will be against,” Zaitseva said.
