The president of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Alexander Dyukov, spoke about the change in relations with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). His words are quoted by Match TV.

Dyukov said that he feels the warming of relations between the parties, and added that he regularly communicates with the head of UEFA, Alexander Ceferin. "Indeed, there was another meeting in November. As we have explained more than once, we agreed not to comment on interim results before making specific decisions," he said.

Due to sanctions from the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA, the Russian national team missed several major international tournaments. Among them are the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

The Russian national team can only play friendly matches. In the last of them, the team led by Valery Karpin beat Brunei with a record and defeated Syria.
