Ronaldo Became the Second Footballer in History Who Has Scored 100 Goals for the National Team
OREANDA-NEWS. Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo opened scoring for the second hundred goals in the matches of the national team.
In the UEFA Nations League match against Sweden in Stockholm, Portugal won 0:2. Both goals were scored by Ronaldo, they became his 100th and 101st in the national team. Thanks to this victory, the Portuguese team remained in the first place in the group, sharing it with French football players.
Ronaldo is the first European and second world footballer to surpass 100 goals for the national team. The leader of the rating is Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals for Iran during the period from 1993 to 2006.
Legendary Brazilian striker Pele congratulated Ronaldo on his new achievement. “I thought we are going to celebrate 100 goals today. But it was actually 101! Congratulations Cristiano, as you reach new heights on your journey,” Pele wrote on his Twitter page.
