Kalinichenko Believes Spartak will Qualify for the Europa League Play-Offs
OREANDA-NEWS. Former Spartak Moscow player Maxim Kalinichenko described the Red-Whites' chances of qualifying from the Europa League group as good. At the same time, he noted that you have to be especially careful when playing on home field.
"It's a paradox, but it's almost certain that Spartak will qualify for the Europa League. We are left with Legia, which we can and must beat and move on. We are not playing well at home. Hopes are connected with away games,"- Kalinichenko wrote in his Telegram channel.
The former Red-Whites midfielder also noted that goalkeeper Aleksandr Selikhov had a good game. Selikhov has played in Spartak's last two games, replacing Alexander Maksimenko, who missed seven goals from Zenit in a Russian championship match on October 25. In the game against Leicester (1-1), Selikhov repelled a penalty.
"Selikhov coped. Struggled in the game, coped with himself. Bravo! A great match! The culmination of the right tactics could have been an attack at the end, with Bakaev and Zhigo, but... A lot of effort, but let down by the wrong decisions,"- added Kalinichenko.
Spartak are in last place in Group C of the Europa League. The Red-Whites have four points. Spartak will next play Napoli at home on November 24 and away to Legia on December 9. Previously, the Red-Whites beat Napoli 3-2 away and lost to Legia (0-1) and Leicester (3-4). Spartak played a 1-1 draw away to the English club.
