IOC and IPC Joined the Legal Process between WADA and RUSADA
OREANDA-NEWS. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) joined the legal proceeding between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) by sending a notification to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
“Today the IOC and the IPC filed a notice of intervention in the CAS case of the WADA and the RUSADA. The only purpose of this intervention is limited to the interest of the IOC and the IPC that the pronounced sanctions are clear, leave no room for any interpretation and can be applied without any further procedures,” the IPC press service’s statement says.
Earlier at the same day, the Russian Olympic and Paralympic committees also joined the process and sent a statement of entry to the CAS.
On December 9, 2019, the WADA Executive Committee deprived Russian athletes of the right to participate in major international competitions. A country cannot host major tournaments for four years. In addition, sportsmen from Russia will be able to take part in them only under a neutral flag.
