OREANDA-NEWS. Due to the spread of the coronavirus, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) canceled four world championships for youth under 18 years and two women’s world championships, the start of which was scheduled for March. This was reported on the official website of the organization.

Men’s U18 championships in the second and third divisions were to be held in Estonia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Luxembourg. Women’s tournaments in the first and second divisions were to take place in Poland and Spain.

IIHF notes that tournaments planned for April and May are on schedule. This also applies to the World Hockey Championship, which should be held in Switzerland on May 8–24. The federation promised to continue monitoring the situation with the spread of coronavirus.
