Great Britain boycotts the Boxing World Cup due to Russia's participation

OREANDA-NEWS The British national team will not take part in the 2023 women's Boxing World Championship due to the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus under their national flags to the competition, according to the website of the British Boxing Federation.
The Women's World Cup will be held in New Delhi (India) from March 15 to 25. Earlier, the USA Boxing Federation refused to take part in the men's and women's World Championships because of the admission of Russians to competitions under the national flag and with the national anthem of the country.
The British national team will make a decision on participation in the men's World Boxing Championship, which will be held in May, later. On October 5, 2022, the IBA announced the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to the competition. Athletes can compete at international tournaments under the flags of their countries, and national anthems will be played when they win.
In February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), due to the situation in Ukraine, recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions as protective measures. On January 25, the IOC Executive Committee called for the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status, while suggesting that athletes who actively supported the special operation in Ukraine should not be allowed.
