Formula 1 has Published a Calendar of the Season without the Russian Flag
OREANDA-NEWS. The Formula 1 press service has published an updated calendar for this season, which does not include the Russian flag in front of the Sochi race.
It is worth noting that the Russian Grand Prix itself is still on the schedule, and the word "Russia" remains in the calendar itself next to the mention of the stage. Last month, a version of the calendar without the Russian flag was published for the first time in the official accounts of Formula 1 on social networks.
Recall, in connection with the decision of the CAS, Russian athletes will not be able to compete in major international competitions under the flag of Russia until December 16, 2022. The use of the national anthem of the Russian Federation is also prohibited. Russian racer "Haas" Nikita Mazepin performs this season in the status of a neutral athlete without the flag and anthem of Russia.
In March, the general director of ANO Rosgonka, Alexei Titov, explained that the name of the Russian stage of Formula 1 would not be subject to sanctions by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The racing weekend this year should take place in Sochi from 23 to 26 September.
The driver of the "Red Bull" Dutchman Max Verstappen showed the best time in the first free practice stage of the Formula 1 Championship of the Styrian Grand Prix, which takes place on the track in Spielberg (Austria).
Russian pilot "Haas" Nikita Mazepin took the last 20th place (+2,171). His teammate German Mick Schumacher finished 18th (+1,563). Between them is the reserve pilot of "Alfa Romeo" Pole Robert Kubica (+1.913).
