OREANDA-NEWS. The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) published on its official website the calendar of the World Cup 2022, which will be held in Qatar.

The opening match of the tournament will be held on November 21 in the city of Al Khor. One of the participants in the starting game will be the Qatar team.

The group stage of the mundial will take place from November 21 to December 2. Matches of the 1/8 finals are scheduled on December 3–6, and quarter-finals will be held on December 9–10. Semifinals are scheduled for December 13–14, and the final match will take place at the Lusail Stadium on December 18.

Qatar received the right to host the World Cup in 2010. World championship for the first time in history will be held in an Arab country. The matches of the tournament, in which 32 teams will participate, will be held at eight stadiums in seven cities. The World Cup in Qatar will be the first to be held in winter, not summer. The decision to postpone the tournament was made by the organizers due to the summer heat in the country.
