FC Lyon Has Filed Two Lawsuits over the Early Completion of the French Football Championship
OREANDA-NEWS. The French football club Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) has filed two lawsuits in connection with the decision to prematurely end the national championship.
Last week, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said that the country’s championship will not be resumed, despite gradual exit from quarantine caused by the coronavirus pandemic. After that, the French Professional League announced that the championship was completed ahead of schedule and would not be resumed, Paris Saint-Germain was declared the champion, Lyon took seventh place.
“We seriously doubted that it was necessary to take such measures. The club’s board of directors decided today to file two lawsuits. Money is not the main thing for Lyon. We would like to explore the possibility of resuming the season,” Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas said. He also explained that the second lawsuit is related to the conditions for the completion of the championship and the method used to determine the final classification of teams.
