Case Has Been Opened against Russian Gymnast Who Put Letter Z on Form
OREANDA-NEWS A disciplinary case has been opened against Russian gymnast Ivan Gulyak. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the head of the Russian Gymnastics Federation (FSGR) Vasily Titov.
"The International Federation referred Kulyak's case to the Independent Foundation of Gymnastic Ethics (FIG), to its disciplinary commission, where the case was opened. It is unlikely that they will delay the process of considering this case," Titov said. He noted that there are no exact dates of the decision and the terms of consideration.
On March 6, Kulak put the letter Z on the form before the award ceremony at the World Cup in Qatar. With this symbol on his chest, the athlete received a bronze medal won in parallel bars exercises.
On March 4, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) suspended Russian athletes from international tournaments. The decision came into force on March 7, so the Russians took part in the World Cup in Qatar as neutral athletes.
It also became known that the American Formula 1 team Naas presented a new coloring of the car for 2022, already without the colors of the Russian flag. Tricolor was present on the front wing and side parts of the car. Now the flag has been removed. Also, the car no longer has the name of the Russian company Uralkali, which was previously the title sponsor of the team.
On March 5, Haas terminated its contract with Uralkali, which was its title sponsor, as well as with pilot Nikita Mazepin due to the events in Ukraine. The Russian pilot in the team was replaced by the Dane Kevin Magnussen.
Uralkali, owned by Dmitry Mazepin, has been the title sponsor of the team since 2021. Last season, Haas took the last, tenth place in the Constructors' Cup without scoring a single point.
