OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian athlete Kristina Timanovskaya, who lives in Poland, summed up her stay in this country.
“What have I learned in six months in Poland? I stopped converting zlotys to Belarusian rubles, but I still convert to euros. I've learned a couple of phrases in Polish and sometimes try to use Polish instead of English, although it's quite difficult.
I began to eat other products, which in Belarus were an unaffordable luxury for me.
I fell in love with life in the city, but I still want to move out of town closer to a park or forest next year. I learned not to trust everyone and, in particular, Belarusians, who say that they are the same as me and “really want to help”. I got burned with this pretty badly.
I have created my own clothing brand, which I have dreamed of for so long, and now I am promoting it.
I began to check the email more often, since here all accounts and important messages come to him. I started ordering everything online. I learned to cope with stress. I learned to say no! Even when embarrassed or ashamed. Especially to those who are trying to benefit from me.
I learned to save not because I am experiencing financial difficulties, but because you can always find good discounts in Poland. I stopped cooking for a week in advance, because there is such a large selection of ready-made and healthy food.
I got used to sorting garbage (it seems to me that this is very important for the environment, this is not enough in Belarus). It remains to come to terms with the fact that everyone around thinks that we are from Ukraine and stop raving about it.
And I am on my way to learning to recognize people and their goals, because during these six months I have met different people on the way, and time has shown the inner essence of all of them. Unfortunately, not all people had good thoughts, ”the athlete wrote on Instagram.
Recall that at the 2020 Summer Olympics, the Belarusian athlete criticized the decision of the coaches, who, without her knowledge, entered her into the application for the 4x400 meter relay. After she said that she was removed from the race and tried to forcibly return to Minsk.
Timanovskaya stated that she does not want to stay in Belarus and intends to apply for asylum in Europe. In addition, in social networks, she turned to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with a request to intervene in the situation and help her. According to the 25-year-old athlete, pressure was exerted on her, they tried to take her out of Japan without her consent. In the summer of 2021, she moved to Poland.
