Belarusian Athlete Timanovskaya Put up Her Medal for Auction
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian athlete Kristina Timanovskaya has put up her silver medal at the 2019 European Games in Minsk on Ebay. The initial cost of the lot is five thousand dollars.
At the same time, at the moment, the value of the medal, thanks to seven rates, has reached $ 6200. The athlete received this award in the 100-meter race.
"I still remember all the emotions that I experienced at the moment when I ran the baton for my team," Timanovskaya wrote in Instargram. I have a second wind. "
According to the athlete, she decided to put the medal up for auction as a sign of support for the athletes who suffered for their position and for their opinion during the August events in Belarus. The proceeds from the auction will be transferred to the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund.
Timanovskaya was supposed to compete at the Tokyo Olympics in running at distances of 100 and 200 m. But the coaches also decided to put her in the 4x400 m relay without discussing this step with the athlete herself. Timanovskaya publicly outraged, saying that she was not preparing to run this distance. After that, according to the athlete, they tried to take her to Minsk by force. In turn, the Olympic Committee of Belarus said that the decision to send the athlete home was due to her "emotional and psychological state."
At the airport Timanovskaya turned to the police. Poland issued a humanitarian visa to the athlete, after which she flew through Vienna to Warsaw.
