OREANDA-NEWS  In December, Yandex Taxi will significantly increase its total investments in attracting drivers in Russia. They will exceed four billion rubles, which is 1.5 times more than in December 2022, the service said in a statement.

This amount includes various bonuses that provide additional income for drivers, for example, for completing a certain number of trips or for orders in a separate zone.

In addition, Yandex will temporarily waive part of its commission in favor of drivers. This measure will affect trips during particularly busy periods, when the number of taxi orders is many times higher than the number of drivers who are ready to fulfill them. The company estimates that by reducing the commission, drivers will receive more revenue in about 20 percent of all trips in December and January.

The service expects that the measures taken should make taxi earnings even more attractive, stimulate the influx of new drivers into the industry and restrain the rate of price growth in the long term. According to the company's calculations, about 80,000 additional drivers are needed to normalize the industry's prices.

Earlier, Yandex Taxi told about the increase in the cost of trips and noted that several factors influenced this parameter. Firstly, there is a growing shortage of drivers, which is caused by their transition to other areas, a decrease in the number of migrants in the industry and increasing costs. Thus, some drivers are leaving the industry due to increased costs for cars and their maintenance.
