Ukraine received a cash tranche from Canada at the expense of income from Russian assets

OREANDA-NEWS Canada has allocated Ukraine a tranche of approximately $1.7 billion secured by proceeds from Russia's frozen assets, Denis Shmygal, the head of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, said in his Telegram channel.
The money, he said, was allocated as part of the G7 ERA initiative. Shmygal promised to spend the funds on the needs of the country. He also clarified that this is the first tranche from Ottawa out of a total amount of 5 billion Canadian dollars (3.45 billion US dollars).
Earlier, Shmygal claimed that the G7 had promised to give Kiev $50 billion, of which the European Union would provide $20 billion.
