OREANDA-NEWS Japan has transferred $950 million to the budget of Ukraine, which should be spent on restoring the destroyed infrastructure in the country and social support. This is reported in a press release by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
Within the framework of the World Bank program, the Ukrainian government received from Japan a grant in the amount of 52.4 million dollars for the project "Housing Renovation for the restoration of human rights and opportunities" (HOPE), as well as a loan of 900 million dollars for the project "Investments in social protection to increase coverage, sustainability and efficiency" (INSPIRE).
The latest project is aimed at "ensuring the social protection of vulnerable segments of the population during and after the war, improving access to social assistance and social services," the press release says. HOPE's goal is to restore infrastructure in the areas affected by the fighting.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine added that funds will also be provided to homeowners for repairs in apartment and private houses that have received moderate damage and do not require major repairs.
In June, it was reported that the World Bank had almost exhausted domestic funds to help Kiev. At the same time, the organization approved a loan of $ 1.5 billion to Ukraine under Japanese guarantees.
