OREANDA-NEWS. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the law «On Virtual Assets», according to which cryptocurrency can be used for settlement operations. 276 deputies supported the legalization of cryptocurrency, six opposed it, 71 abstained. The document is published on the official page of the Verkhovna Rada.

The purpose of the law is a comprehensive regulation of relations arising during the circulation and conclusion of transactions with digital currency, as well as ensuring the same approach to the organization of cryptocurrency trading, the Verkhovna Rada said in a Telegram channel. It is noted that cryptocurrency is not a means of payment, but can be used for non-cash payment.

The first country to legalize cryptocurrency was El Salvador. It was reported that within three months, an infrastructure will be created that will allow accepting such payments. Earlier it was reported that residents of El Salvador came out to protest against the recognition of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.
