OREANDA-NEWS  Turkey and Russia are working on various options to avoid further problems with payment transfers, including tourists, a source in the country's state banking sector told RIA Novosti on condition of anonymity.

The Turkish Ministry of Commerce has compiled a list of companies with problems with payments from Russia, measures are being taken, Ekonomim newspaper reported earlier, citing sources. The publication reported that Turkish exporters faced refusals from banks to accept money transfers from Russia to pay for goods.

Transactions have practically stopped since January 1. In turn, a RIA Novosti source in the banking sector in Ankara said that the problem with payments has been present since the beginning of the year, partly due to pressure on Turkey in connection with Western sanctions. At the same time, the agency's interlocutor stressed that the banking sector had not received any evidence that the Turkish side was helping to circumvent anti-Russian sanctions.

"Discussions are underway on this issue. The existing problems have become a kind of signal, there is an installation from government departments to find alternative options. The work is underway," the agency interlocutor said.

According to him, the options discussed will also affect Russian tourists.

"We are talking about alternative payment systems, when it will be possible to make transfers and purchases from mobile devices. There are a lot of details," the source stressed.
He added that there are still a number of problems with payment transfers from Russia to Turkey.

"There are signals from exporters, mainly the private sector. Official departments are responding promptly," he stressed.
