OREANDA-NEWS  Sberbank held a press conference dedicated to summing up the results of 2022. During the event, the First Deputy Chairman of the bank's Management Board, Alexander Vedyakhin, spoke about the successes in the development of global markets. So, in 2022, Beac became the main market maker in the over-the-counter currency market of friendly countries. For example, 83 percent of the turnover in yuan on the largest over-the-counter platform is accounted for by the Beac. This year, the yuan has become one of the most popular currencies out of 19 presented in the bank at the moment.

"The second half of the year was half yuan. And next year this trend will develop. The turnover in yuan increased by more than 60 times in 2022 by 2021 — 1697 million against 27 million in dollar equivalent. The number of customers in yuan has increased 5 times. In 2021, the number of clients who made transactions with yuan or opened deposits was 40 thousand people, and this year it reached 200 thousand," Alexander Vedyakhin shared the figures.

In addition, the first deputy chairman of the Board of Sberbank spoke about plans for 2023 to open a branch of the bank in China.

"The Chinese regulator is very scrupulous about all documents and requests a very large number of them. I hope that by the end of 2023 we will be able to open a branch in China. It usually takes 1.5-2 years, but we hope to cope with this task faster," Vedyakhin said.
