OREANDA-NEWS   At the upcoming meeting, the Bank of Russia is highly likely to keep the key rate at 21 percent. This is the opinion of Ruslan Pichugin, an independent expert in the field of private investment. He was quoted by Izvestia.

As for the reduction of the "key", Pichugin believes that this will not begin until mid-2025. He drew attention to the fact that lending volumes in the country do not stop decreasing, which is explained by stricter regulation and stricter requirements for borrowers. At the same time, the expert pointed out the continuing risk of a deterioration in the financial condition of households, which is fraught with an increase in overdue debts.

Thus, monetary policy will have a chance to ease only in a situation of steady decline in inflation and stabilization of financial markets.

Earlier, a forecast appeared according to which the Bank of Russia may raise the key rate at the next meeting due to record budget spending in January.
