OREANDA-NEWS Against the background of an increase in the creditworthiness of Russians, the number of consumer loans per citizen was proposed to be limited. A similar initiative was made by State Duma Deputy Sergei Kolunov, his words are quoted by the portal "360.ru ".
The parliamentarian, in particular, called for a restriction in Russia on the simultaneous issuance of such loans to citizens. According to Kolunov, with such customer requests, domestic banks and microfinance organizations (MFOs) should approve no more than two loans at a time. "It's time to limit the number of consumer loans that can be taken out at the same time, at least two," the deputy said.
He added that such a measure should be regulated at the legislative level. Such a restriction, according to Kolunov, would help reduce the credit burden of citizens. Otherwise, financial fraudsters will enjoy the trust of Russians, promising debt relief, and "drive them into even greater bondage," Kolunov complained. "As a result, people simply lose their property — they end up either with collectors or bailiffs," the parliamentarian concluded.
Earlier, the Central Bank reported that in January-October 2023, the total volume of loans from Russians increased by 6 trillion and reached a level of 34.8 trillion rubles. Against this background, the total debt burden of the population has increased to its maximum since 2015. In turn, the deputy head of the collection agency ABC Evgenia Utkina said that last year the volume of credit debt of citizens amounted to a record 3.3 trillion rubles. In 12 months, the figure has increased by almost 300 billion.
