OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered 133 thousand people to be conscripted into military service in October - December 2024.

The decree was published on Monday on the legal information portal.

"To carry out from October 1 to December 31, 2024, conscription of Russian citizens aged 18 to 30 years who are not in reserve and are subject to (...) conscription, in the number of 133 thousand people," the document says.

By the same decree, the President ordered the dismissal from military service of soldiers, sailors, sergeants and petty officers whose enlistment period has expired.

The decree of September 30 came into force from the date of its publication.

The General Staff stated that conscripts will not be sent to participate in the military training in new regions of the Russian Federation.

"I would like to note that conscripted military personnel will not be involved in performing the tasks of a special military operation in new regions," said Vladimir Tsimlyansky, Deputy head of the main organizational and mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation.

"The term of military service on conscription will not change and will be 12 months, and the dispatch of conscripts from assembly points is planned from October 15, 2024," Tsimlyansky said.

During the spring conscription campaign this year, according to the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, 150 thousand recruits were called up for military service (1 year).

According to official data, during the last autumn conscription, 130 thousand people were sent to the army.

On January 1, 2024, changes in the conscription system came into force, the maximum age for conscription was increased to 30 years.

On January 1, the decree signed by the President of the Russian Federation in September 2023 on increasing the age limit for granting deferral from military service for IT specialists to 30 years also came into force.
