OREANDA-NEWS The number of registered unemployed in Russia has risen to 687,000, TASS reported, citing the secretariat of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova, says the Gazeta.ru article.
During the period since May 30 till June 6 the number of registered unemployed increased by 608 people and made 687 thousand people. The number of people working on a part-time or full-time basis remained almost unchanged and amounted to 130.3 thousand people, the secretariat noted. The number of employees, down time, increased by 3.7 thousand - from 131.9 thousand to 135.6 thousand.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the unemployment rate in the country was the lowest in history. According to him, in April the unemployment rate was 4%, while in May the number of officially registered unemployed did not increase, but even slightly decreased.
The Central Bank noted that the number of vacancies in the labor market is decreasing. If the first wave of falling demand for new employees from late February to mid-April could be attributed to the decision to suspend previously planned hiring, the second wave probably refers to the beginning of the reduction in the number of jobs.
