OREANDA-NEWS. The situation in the market of unsecured consumer lending in the Russian Federation is tense, the level of debt burden of citizens is becoming a social problem, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseyev told reporters.

 Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Maxim Oreshkin, commenting on the data of the Central Bank that GDP growth could have dropped to zero in the first quarter, with no support in the form of growth in unsecured consumer lending, stated that the task of the Bank of Russia is to maintain the level of aggregate demand to ensure stable inflation  Demand depends on investment, not current consumption.

 The authorities continue to argue about what to do with the growing consumer lending market, the Finance Ministry joined it on Monday, supporting the Ministry of Economic Development in its discussions with the Central Bank.

 The deputy head of the Ministry of Finance stressed that Russians are moving to a critical level of debt burden on a person, and also agreed that "this market should be tried to be limited."
