OREANDA-NEWS Already at the beginning of 2023, the cost of a number of products on the Russian market will be lower than in the winter of 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture predicted. In particular, pork and poultry meat, eggs, vegetables, sunflower oil, flour, buckwheat will become cheaper. These departments are quoted by Izvestia.
"For a number of categories, such as pork and poultry meat, eggs, vegetables, sunflower oil, flour, buckwheat and other types of products, selling prices are currently below the level of last year. The Ministry of Agriculture expects that this trend will continue at the beginning of next year," representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture said.
Food prices are expected to decrease due to the growth of the domestic agro-industrial complex in all key areas. Production increased throughout 2022 and now provides a stable price situation in the food market, the ministry stressed.
At the same time, prices are still high compared to 2021. This, in particular, is indicated by the growth of spending by Russians on popular products for the New Year's table sharply: in the first half of December, spending increased by an average of 13 percent compared to the same period last year. So, in the first weeks of December, Russians spent 426 rubles more on mayonnaise, crab sticks, red caviar, tangerines than last year. On average, the expenses amounted to 3.5 thousand rubles.
