OREANDA-NEWS The overwhelming majority of Russians (74 percent) supported the idea of self-locking loans. These are the results of a study by the analytical center of the Superjob job search service.
Over the year, the number of supporters of such a measure has increased by 10 percentage points. At the same time, respondents with an income of more than 100,000 rubles per month (80 percent) were most often in favor of the opportunity to independently limit their ability to obtain loans. Only 6 percent of Russians opposed the self-ban on loans, calling it an attempt by the state and financial organizations to shift responsibility for financial security to citizens.
The number of those wishing to establish a self-ban on issuing loans increased from 28 to 45 percent over the year. More often than other categories of citizens, Russians aged 45 and over (51 percent) and those who had not issued loans in the last 6 months (48 percent) wanted to take advantage of this opportunity.
The bill, which will allow bank customers to issue a self-ban on issuing loans, was adopted by State Duma deputies in the first reading in October 2023. According to the authors of the document, issuing a ban on loans will reduce the risks of fraud in obtaining loans using stolen personal data.
In January, parliamentarians considered amendments to the bill. They provide an opportunity for citizens to apply for voluntary refusal to receive bank loans not only on the Public Services portal and in multifunctional centers (MFC), but also directly through banks and microfinance organizations (MFOs).
