OREANDA-NEWS During the New Year holidays, Russians began to purchase various accessories for heating and starting cars, as well as home entertainment gadgets, including game consoles, much more often. This is reported by the Izvestia newspaper with reference to market participants.
The above categories of spending have become one of the main ones for Russians during the New Year holidays. Analysts attributed this to a number of factors, including severe frosts that hit the central regions of the country in early January.
Experts clarified that due to adverse weather conditions, citizens began to make purchases on online marketplaces much more often. The latter reported a 50 percent increase in sales during the New Year holidays. According to analysts at the OFD Platform, Russians spent the most money on buying electronics and household appliances. The average check in this segment on public holidays (from January 1 to January 8) amounted to 10,138 rubles.
At the end of November, the Kommersant newspaper, citing data from analysts at major Russian banks, reported that in January-September 2023, Russians began to take out loans for electronics and household appliances twice as often. The largest annual growth was demonstrated by the categories of loans for televisions, smartphones, laptops and washing machines. Analysts attributed such dynamics to delayed demand.
