The Kremlin Criticized Western Publications about the Difficult Situation with Food and Food Prices in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. The Kremlin does not agree with Western publications about the difficult food situation in Russia.
According to the American company NielsenIQ, more than half of Russians have lost income due to the pandemic, and 70% are forced to save, including on food. In addition, Bloomberg has included Russia in the list of "hot spots" where protests are possible due to rising food prices.
The journalists asked the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov to comment on this information. He was also asked about measures to overcome such problems, in particular, about food certificates.
Peskov noted that the topic of product certificates, which are widely used in different countries, are being discussed in expert circles.
A Kremlin spokesman said they did not agree with this publication. He noted that the Russian authorities have different data and added that the conclusions reached by the authors of this publication are incorrect.
According to him, people all over the world felt the decline in incomes, and in Russia this is no stronger than in other states.
Earlier, Bloomberg's material was criticized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, noting that it is speculative.
