OREANDA-NEWS. Disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT payment system would destroy the entire system of world trade. This opinion was expressed in an interview with RIA Novosti by the president of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after E.M. Primakov (IMEMO) RAS Alexander Dynkin, adding that he does not consider this possible in relation to the Russian Federation.

The Russian expert said: “Certain politicians can talk about this both here and here. But I think that if this happens, the entire system of world trade will be destroyed. Because after all, we have a very significant volume of trade with the European Union, which more than double the volume of trade with China. And if this system is destroyed, then the Europeans will not be able to pay for deliveries, just as we will not be able to pay for our imports. "

President of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after E.M. Primakov (IMEMO) RAS noted that he does not think that this is possible in relation to Russia. At the same time, he emphasized that this is his point of view, “and a responsible state policy at the same time lays down some insurance measures, therefore, the restructuring of the gold and foreign exchange reserve is underway, this is a preemptive measure, and at the same time a kind of signal. But, as you heard, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov are rather restrained about the possibility of disconnecting Russia from the payment system. "
