OREANDA-NEWS  The European Union (EU) has proposed to impose sanctions against the largest Russian shipping company Sovcomflot, which is engaged in oil transportation. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to the document.

The EU also proposed to impose restrictions on 13 vessels engaged in the transportation of goods and technologies used in the field of defense and security of the Russian Federation.

In February, Sovcomflot and 14 Russian oil tankers came under blocking US sanctions. The Russian company was moved from the NS-MBS list ("less than completely blocking sanctions") to the SDN list ("list of specially designated citizens and blocked persons").

This includes companies, organizations and individuals who, in the opinion of the United States, pose a threat to national security, foreign and economic policy of the country. Being included in this sanctions list means an automatic ban for American individuals and legal entities to do business with such companies.
