OREANDA-NEWS    The EU has frozen Russian assets worth 68 billion euros. Politico writes about this with reference to the document of the European Commission.

"Belgium accounts for 50 billion euros out of 68 billion euros," the publication said. It is followed by Luxembourg, where assets worth 5.5 billion euros were frozen.

At the same time, the EU does not know the exact size of the frozen national reserves of the Russian Federation. In the document, they are estimated at an approximate amount of 33.8 billion euros.

Earlier, the EU countries have already frozen 17.4 billion euros of assets of Russian business. This was reported in October by the European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders. According to him, 90% of this amount was distributed among seven EU countries. We are talking about Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Luxembourg.

"It is necessary to continue to urge other states to implement sanctions correctly, notify the European Commission about the amounts that have been frozen," Reynders said at the time.
