OREANDA-NEWS The Toncoin cryptocurrency, whose payments are made in Telegram, has fallen sharply in price against the background of the detention in France of the co-founder of the messenger Pavel Durov, losing more than 19 percent of its value, according to data from the Binance platform.

At 15:04 Moscow time, the value of Toncoin was at $ 5.47, and at the time of writing, the drop had softened to $ 5.58.

In less than an hour after the information about Durov's detention at Paris Le Bourget airport appeared, the value of the cryptocurrency integrated into the messenger fell by almost 15 percent.

After the American court banned the release of the Telegram token developed by the team, Durov announced the termination of work on the project. A year and a half later, at the end of 2021, the entrepreneur published a post about the TON project on his Telegram page and supported the development team, stressing that he himself had nothing to do with the project.
