OREANDA-NEWS  The contribution of the domestic IT sector to Russian GDP exceeded 2.2% by the end of 2024, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"In five years, the contribution of the domestic energy sector to Russian GDP has increased by more than 1.7 tenths of a fold. And it exceeded 2.2 percent of GDP last year. We have almost a million people involved in this industry," Mishustin said, speaking at the Digital Almaty 2025 forum.
The Russian Prime Minister noted that the national infrastructure of the Internet of Things is being formed at an accelerated pace in the Russian Federation, and the number of smart sensors and metering devices installed that transmit data online is in the millions.

"We have a modern telecommunications industry," Mishustin emphasized, noting that domestic telecom equipment and optical cable are mainly used in the construction of networks to connect households and social facilities to the Internet.
