OREANDA-NEWS Since the beginning of 2024, the average size of a Russian's bank deposit has increased by 46 thousand rubles. This was stated by Igor Balynin, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Finance at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. 

According to him, as of October 1, the average amount of such a contribution was 370 thousand. If the situation continues to develop at the current pace, then in 2025 the volume of deposits of Russians will exceed the mark of 60 trillion rubles.

Balynin drew attention to the fact that if on January 1, 2022 there were about 35 trillion rubles in deposits, now it is almost 52 trillion. In 2023, the amount of Russians' funds on deposits increased by eight trillion rubles, and in the first nine months of 2024 — by another 15 percent.

Earlier, economist Mikhail Belyaev called bank deposits the best tool for storing savings. In addition, he advised Russians to explore the possibility of investing in government securities, as well as in long-term savings programs.
