OREANDA-NEWS  The "sandwich coffee index" ("Sandwich Index"), reflecting the picture of Russians' consumption of popular breakfast products, decreased by 1.4 points in the second half of July and amounted to 132.3 points.

The index was developed by RIA Novosti on the basis of data exclusively provided to the agency by specialists of the large analytical resource "Check Index". The "basket" for its calculation includes seven products - frequent guests at the morning tables of Russians: loaf (400 grams), ham (200 grams), butter (180 grams), cheese (200 grams), cucumbers (500 grams), instant coffee (95 grams), sugar (1 kilogram).

For products from this consumer basket, the "Check Index" analysts regularly calculate aggregated impersonal sales figures (average check). The value of the "Coffee and sandwich Index" for the period from October 1 to October 15, 2022 was taken as the base 100 points. Its change corresponds to the arithmetic mean of the dynamics of the average receipt for each of the seven products.

So, from July 16 to 31, the average check increased for ham (by 3%, to 208 rubles) and butter (by 1.1%, to 181 rubles). It decreased for cucumbers (by 10.3%, to 104 rubles), coffee (by 2.5%, to 197 rubles) and cheese (by 0.9%, to 210 rubles). The average check remained at the same level for sugar (70 rubles) and loaf (41 rubles).
Thus, the index decreased by 1.4 points to 132.3 points compared to the previous two-week period.
